Europe mini LED display market was valued at $8.8 million in 2020 and will grow by 73.2% annually over 2020-2030 owing to the rising demand for consumer electronics products, growth in the automotive sector and other related applications, and technological advancements in digital displays.
Mini LED is essentially a very small LED (size less than about 0.2mm) that, collectively, create the backlight on LCD display panels. A mini LED display uses several tiny LED backlights to provide vastly superior dimming, instead of using single large and multiple smaller dimmed backlight display. The ease of manufacture of mini LED panels (compared to OLED or Micro LED panels) means that they can also be used to build small displays such as those witnessed on tablets, notebooks, and even on smartphones. The ability of providing higher brightness, higher contrast ratio, improved power efficiency, and reduced to burn-in is offer considerably opportunities for manufacturers of mini LED displays. The adoption of mini LED display technology is expected to increase, as several brands are launching LCD TVs with mini LED backlight technology. Mini LED displays are utilized in numerous applications such as automotive display, television, wearable, smartphones, laptop/notebook, hand-dryers, gaming keyboards, etc.
The market in Europe is a relatively tech savy market which is looking for better and newer technology. This is due to the fact that the population in this region has a comparatively high disposable income with proper infusion of technology in daily life. Based on end-use industry, the market can be segmented into consumer electronics, consumer electronics, automotive, healthcare, retail, industrial, entertainment, advertising, transportations and others. The consumer electronics segment of the global mini LED display market is estimated to expand at a rapid pace during the forecast period due to an increase in use of mini LED display in television, wearable, smartphones, laptop/notebook, hand-dryers, gaming keyboards, etc.. Mini LED displays also offer numerous benefits for devices such as improved contrast ratio, deeper and brighter panels. Rising demand for miniaturized display in consumer electronics devices is a vital factor driving the market. Moreover, high dynamic range, display sizes, picture quality, power-saving capability, and the lower failure rate as compared to traditional LEDs are major factors driving the mini LED display market. Expansion of the segment is also driven primarily by trends in the consumer electronics industry, as demand for LED-based TVs, laptops, and smartphones increases due to lower failure rates as compared to traditional LEDs. Penetration of several features of LED displays into daily life is likely to provide considerable opportunity for the mini LED display manufacturers to thrive in the consumer electronics industry, which in turn is also propelling the market

Download SampleAll LCD TVs use a backlight to provide the light source for your TV viewing. In recent times that backlighting has come in the form of LEDs, numbering in the hundreds. Mini LED has taken that one step further by using LEDs which are are much, much smaller. About one-fortieth of the size of regular LED backlights, they're not unlike glitter in appearance, which is quite astonishing thing to see and realise. The big advantage here is that it's possible to have many more of them for each TV. It's about a ten-fold increase, with them numbering the thousands and arranged into more dimming zones than before. More subtle light control means better contrast, both in terms of absolute dynamics but also, usually, it means an increased and more complex array of simultaneous lighting levels. That makes for more precise shading and a better sense of depth to the picture, and more realistic and nuanced colour reproduction than your average LCD TV. This advancement in technology is what will drive the market.
MicroLED sets, such as Samsung’s Wallpaper and Sony’s Crystal LED TVs, are similar to OLEDs in their self-emissive properties, then, but instead of using organic light emitting diodes they use tiny, non-organic LEDs - three (red, green and blue) per pixel. The fact they're not organic means they should have a long lifespan and not succumb to fading, they should be capable of much higher brightness, and they're power-efficient because they don't need to shine through a colour filter. But Each pixel requiring three LEDs does, however, mean a 4K set requires 25 million of the tiny things, and mass producing these in perfect alignment and with no variation in brightness is a serious challenge. Because of this, and the benchmark quality these TVs should produce, be prepared for the first MicroLEDs to be super expensive (think five figures), as Samsung's The Wall installation is. Mini LED is a much less intricate technology than MicroLED, then, and can be seen as a transitional technology between traditional LCD and MicroLED – and as an affordable alternative to OLED.
COVID-19 Impact
The Mini LED market succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic, as this technology was gaining momentum only before the start of the virus. During the pandemic companies restrained themselves from changing to this better viable technology. Along with this the halt in production and also the issues faced in the supply chain became an obstacle for the market. On the other hand the market was able to sustain with the increased consumption of technological gadgets which use display as a critical component of use, this included TV’s and mobile phones along with tablets and laptops.
