Brazil LED Lighting Market Overview, 2028

Brazil LED Lighting market Size, Share, Trend & Market Analysis By Type, By Distribution Channel, By End User, Competition, Forecast & Opportunities.

Brazil has had the greatest market share in South America for LED lighting since its inception. The future of the LED lighting manufacturing market in Brazil appears promising, with numerous chances. The government's emphasis on energy-efficient lighting products is a critical driver propelling the country's LED lighting business. The Brazilian government has launched several projects aimed at improving energy efficiency in the lighting industry. For example, the government has pledged to increase energy efficiency in the country by 10% by 2030 in its national policy framework. This is likely to boost demand for LED lights in Brazil. Furthermore, recent legal reforms mandate that all Brazilian cities assume full responsibility for their public lighting assets, providing incentives to cut rising energy expenditures. Furthermore, the prohibition on incandescent bulbs, infrastructure expansion, and falling LED product prices are some of the other significant factors boosting the Brazilian LED industry. Because of the presence of multiple firms, the market is fragmented. ABB Ltd., Cree Inc., Dialight Plc, Eaton Corp. Plc, Havells India Ltd., Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA, OSRAM Licht AG, Panasonic Corp., Signify NV, and Toshiba International Corp. are some of the main LED lighting industry providers in Brazil.

According to the research report "Brazil LED lighting Market Overview, 2028," published by Bonafide Research, the market is expected to add USD 1.93 Billion by 2028. Growing consumer awareness of the benefits of LED lights, such as their high lumen power, low power consumption, longer service life, and lack of flickering, combined with the incorporation of solutions such as Wi-Fi, occupancy sensors, and daylighting, among others, into lighting, is attracting a sizable consumer base in the country. The same factor is propelling LED lighting sales and boosting total industry growth. For example, Belo Horizonte Iluminaçao Publica (BHIP) saved 50% on electricity costs in 2019 by replacing 182,000 streetlights with modern LEDs. The initiative is part of Brazil's first public-private lighting cooperation between BHIP and Signify. The Brazilian market contains around 600 active enterprises, which contribute significantly to the economy by creating over 37 thousand jobs. Revenues in this area are divided as follows: 61% for luminaries, 28% for lamps, and 11% for reactors Greater Sao Paulo is home to the vast majority of industries, accounting for 58% of the total. Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Bahia, and Pernambuco account for 25% of the total. The remaining 17 percent are in the state of Sao Paulo's interior. Only the LED lighting market is predicted to increase at a 10% annual rate through 2022, according to Lumière Electric magazine.

During the forecast period, outdoor lighting is expected to grow significantly in the Brazil LED Lighting Market. It is due to the fast rise of infrastructure development projects, such as airports, highways, and public spaces, which promote the demand for sufficient lighting, particularly in regions where dimness is a certainty. Furthermore, increased government measures to achieve net-zero emissions via lowering energy usage is another factor that is expected to drive a surge in demand for LED lighting, particularly for applications such as street lighting, highway lighting, and others. The same feature is also developing as a potential opportunity for the top firms to expand their production and distribution capacities to meet rising demand across Brazil.

A smart city uses a safe combination of IoT technology and information and communication technology (ICT) to manage a city's assets. Smart cities can change the way people live and work, both economically and socially. To attain this goal, the Brazilian government is investing in technology such as water management, smart grids, smart street lighting, climate action plans, urban transportation, and smart parking. Some cities in Brazil have adopted or are in the process of developing smart city projects that will be implemented shortly. Cities that have undertaken such projects include Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, and Curitiba. Smart technologies are being used to change existing cities in several circumstances.

The private sector may play an essential role in assisting municipalities in overcoming the hurdles of bringing efficient LED lights to where they are most needed. The Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) collaborated with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank (WB) to assist the Brazilian federal government via the Ministry of Economy (Investment Partnerships Program PPI) and CAIXA, one of Brazil's public banks. This assistance included the structuring and procurement of street lighting in up to 15 Brazilian municipalities via public-private partnership (PPP) deals. The GIF's participation complements the World Bank Group's broader initiatives to encourage energy efficiency. The participation also adds value by assisting CAIXA in developing the institutional capacity necessary to apply this standardized PPP strategy to future projects in other municipalities.

The spread of COVID-19 contributed to the decline of the Brazilian LED lighting market on the back of disturbances in the supply chain and discontinuation of production. Moreover, consequent disruptions in the construction activities of both residential and commercial properties further led to a decrease in revenues for the industry players that significantly contributed toward the slow growth of Brazil's LED lighting market in the coming years.
