RFID Market Market Research FAQs

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology uses radio waves to automatically identify and track objects or individuals. It consists of RFID tags (containing a microchip and antenna) and RFID readers (devices that communicate with tags). When a tag enters the radio frequency field of a reader, it transmits its unique identifier, allowing the reader to capture the information and process it in various applications.

RFID tags can be classified into passive, active, and battery-assisted passive (BAP) categories based on their power source and functionality. Passive tags rely on energy harvested from the reader's signal, while active tags have their power source (battery) for longer read ranges and continuous transmission.

RFID technology enables real-time tracking and tracing of goods throughout the supply chain, improving inventory accuracy, reducing stockouts, minimizing shrinkage, enhancing order fulfillment, and providing insights for demand forecasting and logistics planning.

Factors driving RFID adoption include regulatory compliance requirements, need for process automation and efficiency, demand for real-time visibility and data analytics, desire to enhance customer experiences, and emergence of new applications enabled by IoT (Internet of Things) and Industry 4.0 technologies.
